Azores Grilled limpets

Ingredients

  • Medium size limpets
  • ½ packet of butter with salt
  • 1 head of garlic
  • Dona Pimentinha hot pepper paste

Preparation

  1. Place the limpets for a few hours in a container with water and salt, in order to remove the sand they may have;
  2. Chop the garlic cloves very fine/thin;
  3. Arrange the limpets on a grill with the shell down, so that the sauce does not spill;
  4. Pour a pinch of chopped garlic, a teaspoon of Dona Pimentinha hot pepper paste and a bit of butter on each limpet;
  5. Grill the limpets until they start to be released from the shells.
